Skyway moves closer to reality after route approval

WILMINGTON – Plans for a toll bridge connecting New Hanover County and Brunswick County got approval to move forward on Wednesday night.

The Transportation Advisory Committee and officials from both counties as well as Wilmington unanimously approved a proposal to use a northern route. A map of the corridor is expected to be finalized within the next six months.

The bridge could help alleviate some of the congestion on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.
